Byron Morrison-Mills

(He/him)

Clinical Psychologist

I work with adults experiencing deep-seated emotional, relational, and behavioural difficulties, particularly those that emerge as enduring themes in how they view themselves and relate to others. Many of the people I work with have previously engaged in therapy but felt something was still missing or that the changes they experienced did not fully last over time. I commonly support individuals experiencing complex trauma, personality vulnerabilities, chronic depression, longstanding anxiety difficulties, and ongoing relationship challenges.

My Approach

I’m especially drawn to Schema Therapy because of its ability to explore the origins of longstanding emotional difficulties and address the underlying causes rather than only managing symptoms. I value its depth, compassion, and focus on the therapeutic relationship, particularly for people who feel caught in recurring and self-defeating ways of coping, relating, or reacting to life.

In therapy, I aim to create a space where people feel comfortable exploring their experiences openly and without judgment. Together, we work toward understanding how emotional difficulties and longstanding ways of relating to oneself and others may have developed, how they continue to shape present experiences, and how healthier and more flexible ways of responding can emerge over time.

Alongside deeper exploration, I also value practical strategies that support emotional awareness, resilience, and meaningful day-to-day change. My approach integrates experiential work with evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

My Background & Training

I hold a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the University of Wollongong and a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). I have over eight years of training and clinical experience across private practice, university clinics, and inpatient mental health settings, working with adults from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

I am also currently working toward advanced accreditation in Schema Therapy through the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST).
